AUTISM CRY STUDY

Researchers at Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University are studying the very early signs of autism. This study compares the cries of children with typical development with those who may have autism.

Do you have a child with autism or ASD? Do you have a videotape of him or her fussing or crying when he or she was a baby? You may be eligible for this study. You can participate by mail, right from your home. We will return your videotape to you (we can also make a DVD copy for you).

WHAT IS THE STUDY?
This study aims to identify signs of autism in early infancy. Our researchers will analyze home recordings of cry sounds made by babies who later receive a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Families of children with autism may be eligible to participate. We are seeking home videotape recording of children 6 and younger.

WHERE DOES THE STUDY TAKE PLACE?
The study will take place at the Brown Center for the Study of Children at Risk, in Providence, RI. BUT YOU CAN PARTICPATE RIGHT FROM YOUR HOME! We will make copies of the videotapes that you share, and then we return them to you. We can send you a DVD copy as well.

Help us learn the early signs of autism.
